Standardized rule set for penalties within Gran Turismo 7 competitions

General rules
Last Updated: 21.09.2025.

How penalties are handled?

  • All reports must be submitted before the deadline specified for each event.
  • The organizer reserves the right to initiate an investigation and review any incident at any time and against any driver, if it is in the interest of the community or to protect the reputation of BSH

Each penalty cosists of:

  • Fixed part – time defined in the regulations
  • Variable part – added time based on how much the victim lost
  • Penalty points – depending on the severity of the incident

Types of Incidents and penalties

2 seconds

  • Minor side contact causing another car to go off track
  • Irregular driving at close distance (weaving / breaking slipstream when gap ≤ 2s),
  • 2 penalty points

5 seconds

  • Divebombs or causing spins by hitting side/rear
  • “Push to pass” – forcing your way through during overtaking
  • Ignoring blue flags for more than half a lap
  • 3 penalty points

10 seconds

  • Divebombs or causing spins if multiple drivers are affected or in the first / last lap
  • Unsafe rejoin causing a collision
  • Ignoring blue flags for more than a full lap

For every penalty, lost time of the victim is added to the base penalty.

Consequences (last 10 races in BSH competitions)

  • 5 points – minus 7 grid positions in the next race
  • 7 points – Qualifying ban
  • 10 points – Race ban for the next event
  • 15 points – 30-day ban from BSH events

Special Notes

Giving back a position to the victim

  • If the position is returned safely:
    • No permanent damage → only penalty points, no time penalty,
    • With permanent damage → time penalty still applies, but lost time is not added

Lapping situations

  • Drivers who are a lap down are advised not to overtake back the car that lapped them, unless they can clearly pull away without interfering,
  • If unable to pull away → must yield at the first safe opportunity
